DIGITAL LIBRARY

Digital Library is being developed using GSDL by harvesting current open e-books on different subjects, links to the scholarly journal publications, theses and dissertations and other e-resources. Efforts are being made to subscribe subject specific e-books, e-journal databases. Institutional Repository using DSpace also will be developed as part of Digital Library. e-journal consortia, springer e-books and EBSCO collections enable campus wide access of 8000+ journals and 10000 e-books.

Dspace@bdulib Repository will collects, preserves and disseminates in digital format the research output of faculty, scholars and students of Bharathidasan University.

This Web Portal will allow our Library Users to review of their work request on-line from any computer that is connected to the Network. Online chat is a generic term now mostly known as instant messaging applications-computer programs that enable two-way typing to connect users to each other.

Web-OPAC is to provide continuous access to the Knowledge and Information in the Bharathidasan University Library to the students and faculty of the Institute for achieving excellence in their chosen disciplines. *OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)* Allows users to search allmaterials (such as Books, Theses and Dissertations, Journals, Magazines, Digital material, etc.) available in the library collection.

This service is a part of the ongoing project "Development of OAI-Based Institutional Research Repository Services in India", sponsored by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. This project is being carried out at National Centre for Science Information (NCSI), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The service will harvest metadata as per the OAI-PMH protocol from the registered OA respositores in India. It also provides a web-based search/browse functionality over the harvested metadata.
